$7600 is invested for one year, part at 4% and the remainder at 5%. The income from the two investments is $338. Find the amount invested at 4%.

y is the 5%

x+y=7600
y=7600-x

0.05y=338-0.04x

5y=33800-4x
y=7600-x

Solve with substitution

5(7600-x)=33800-4x
38000-5x=33800-4x
4200=x
