To simplify this expression would be 5x + 13

To Expand this expression would be 3x + 3 + 2x + 10

3(x + 1) + 2(x + 5)     use distributive property

= (3)(x) + (3)(1) + (2)(x) + (2)(5) = 3x + 3 + 2x + 10    combine like terms

= (3x + 2x) + (3 + 10) = 5x + 13
