Dimensional check:

On the left side:

x (m)

On the right side:

[tex]vt^2 = m/s * s^2 = ms[/tex]

[tex]2at = m/s^2 * s = m/s[/tex]

Since it's not possible to add ms to m/s, the equation

[tex]x = vt^2 + 2at[/tex]

would not be possibly correct
