-3x - 3 (5x - 17) = 3
-3x - 15x + 51 = 3. combine like terms
-18 x + 51 - 51 = 3 - 51
-18x = -48 divide by -18
x = 3
put 3 in for x
-3 (3) -3y = 3 multiply
-9 +9 - 3y = 3 + 9 combine like terms
-3y = 12 divide by -3
y = -4
