The first step in changing a health-related behavior is Pre-contemplation.
What is Pre-contemplation?
The Precontemplation Stage, which is the initial stage of transformation in the Transtheoretical Model, is a person's period of denial regarding their drug and alcohol usage during their therapy.
Regardless of the likely or conceivable negative effects of use, the person does not view their use as problematic and does not find a cause to alter their conduct.
Prochaska and DiClemente created the Transtheoretical Model, commonly known as the Stages of Change Model, in the late 1970s.
This approach, which emphasizes human decision-making, is a model of deliberate transformation. The Transtheoretical Model operates under the presumption that people do not make abrupt and significant behavioral changes. Instead, a cyclical process results in continuous behavior change, especially in the case of habitual behavior.
