How would your movement change if your vertebral column was one long bone?

Our body would lack the ability to bend sideways, backwards or even forward, normally the bones in the body allows as to move and bend. 
The skeleton has joints and different separate bones, these joints allow us to move various body parts, such as the arms and legs.
